Same as the title, helping a friend do a low budget build, we pulled the rear out today. He wants a posi and a 3:73. Used is fine but has to be in working order.

26 spline early S10 4 wheel drive. 4 cyl auto or stick. 28 spline same set up but 1990 and up. most of the 4 wheelers were posi most 4cyl ones were the lowest ratio.

They will probably be the Gov Bomb posi in the S-10's but they should be fine behind a stock 307.

I did a relatively inexpensive build on my 7.5, 26 spline axle a few years ago. Gutted my case and installed an Auburn Gear 3.73 ring & pinion, Auburn stage 2 limited slip carrier and a bearing kit for about $700. I'm sure everything has gone up in price, but including junkyard axle cores.

Correct. Neither did all of the S10's. But there are deals on 3.73 posi Monte SS rears that pop up from time to time.
Best I got was I got a whole ElCamino for parts and the yard had no idea that it had a 3:42 posi that had gotten rebuilt in it. Paid $600 sold some parts from it saved the rearend total cost $200😎

Yeah, most Astro Van's are 3.23 open. The Wrecker had to open quite a few to get 3.42 gears and still open.
