I have a friend of mine who has a little bit of money and no common sense. He bought a nice Monte SS and had it repainted and it looks nice. He was a little upset that my sad looking GP could run circles around his SS, So he gave the SS to his wife and bought an 73 Cutlass that he had plans for but he decided that was to much work so he sold it. Today he went to by a 95 Trans Am convertible that was selling for $4,700. It had the 5.7 with the 6 speed stick. I tried to tell him the car was selling too cheap so take a good look at it. He thought he got a great deal when he talked got the guy to drop it to $4,000 even. He pays the guy without even starting the car. He gets in, put his window down and it goes down too quick and won't go back up. He's driving the car down the road ans the rear end is howling. The transmission won't stay in 3rd gear and then the car stalls and it won't restart. He calls the seller and the seller then remembers the car shut down on him once in a while and it will restart sometimes. So my friend call the tow truck and now the fun starts. I wonder if it is the omnispark or the fuel pump. I haven't told my friend yet but the 95 Trans Am with the 5.7 only does the 1/4 mile in the low 14s. But first he has to fix the no start, the rear end and the T56.

here is what he bought

don't forget ..fix the window (s) wonder what surprises will come when he drops the top the first time ?

you have that right, the top may come down but never go back up. With that car it was priced too low to begin with, if the guy drops it to $4,000 then my next offer would be $2,000 cause I know there are problems. I figure just with the transmission and the rear end he's at least $2,000 and that's if the transmission doesn't need a complete rebuild

I bought my 86' Regal without driving it, I looked at it and heard it run when I stopped by while I was working but that was it.
He was asking $2500 and I only looked at it to see if it was cleaner than my 85' Regal.
I told him if he got in a jam for money we could work something out and he ended up calling me the next day asking if I would pay $1500 for it.
I was still was not all that interested in it but told him if he can drive to my house I will give you $1200 cash for it.
He agreed and drove it probably around 15 miles to my house nothing was on fire when he showed up so I thought I did OK.

Can I take the Charger in the background for 2k? Then we might have a deal. And why is it that money and no common sense go hand in hand? Yes it's a sharp looking car, but test drive it. /facepalm
For instance my 92 Lincoln Town Car I bought for .. I want to say 500 but I think that is low.. If I had test driven it I would have payed less. Not sure if it's electrical or ignition (plugs wires coils) but it has a mean buck to it for no reason at certain RPMs. Good thing it's a cheap winter car.

meh, for my $$ I would pull the seats and brakes then part out the rest. One of the courier drivers we use sold his 81 cutty to buy one of those. He loves it for some reason. His is a V6 and drop top

Wow I would never call someone back to tell them "hey you sold me a broken car." You buy it you keep it.

my friend didn't even ask any questions or take a test drive or try out anything on the car, he was like a kid buying his first car just dreaming about how he'll look in that beautiful muscle car..... and I was just told the headlights don't park proper either.
