Talked to the guy today tells me now he shifted car at 5700 rpm. He hasnt even pushed it imo.

My uncle runs a 327 in his '57 Chevy race car. He's owned it for over 40 years and it was built in period style with a gasser stance, straight axle, fiberglass flip nose, ladder bars, etc, etc. The engine HAS been on a dyno and is proven to have 475hp. But it has heavily ported heads, 12:1 compression, 950HP series carb (yes I know it seems too big but it made more dyno power than an 850), good headers (not some cheap off-the-shelf), Jericho transmission, 5.88 gears and lots of tire. His car runs 11.50 and has been faster running the traps at 8000rpm.
I think Malibu guy is actually doing pretty well considering his overall combination and minimal investment. I wouldn't worry about his "disappointment". What's the worst that could happen? If he complains, the people who know better won't care, the dipshits who think he's right don't matter anyway.

It is a small engine. He is going to have to spin it higher if he wants more power. Like has been mentioned, better heads, more compression, and a heavier right foot will yield him better results but ya he probably does not want to do that. Probably thinks he should be able to drive it like it has a 406 that doesnt need 7k rpm to make the same or better power.

what an *ss hole i have a 396 bbc and i might be in the mid 13's

12s with that combo is amazing he needs a set of 062 vortecs and a intake to match shift it at 6500 and itll go low 12s easy
