You pretty much said you wanted to replace it with the later style header panel. I took it you meant the quad headlight panel.
Good luck finding one, it shouldn't be too difficult.
I don't know what your local junkyards look like as far as older cars are concerned, but you can try checking out car-part.com. It might help narrow down the search. https://www.car-part.com/ or post an ad in the wanted section. I'm sure a fellow member could hook you up.

Someone pulled out in front of me and t bone happened. (Twas not my fault) but I want to try to look at the bright side. This is a 1979 el camino. I want to replace the hood with like a cowel or something. But what I really want is a phantom grill. They only make them for 82-87 i know. My question is. Can I put the later years front clip on this car. (My concern is the fenders also being different)

I dont know honestly if my state does. But its on historic plates. So it doesn't need to be inspected ever again. And the cops/highway patrol only worry about DUI and speeding. I think side marker lights are a good idea for safety. But this one i had to have the sleek finish.

Also I really like the way you did that. Looks great!

The Car has been "done" for a while, the paint took forever to match. Looking at it you would not think it would be that difficult of paint to match but it took about 500 dollars in just small samples to get the right colour. There are some other things I did which I will post about in some other posts, but putting a tach in the cowl is a good idea, and looks just as cool as you would think 😉

I actually like the look of the old-style mirrors, they are absolutely useless as mirrors but it makes the car seem older.

The blend went about halfway down the door, To make things more difficult the old paint job is not very good. There's a slight bit of texture, but luckily the painter was extremely skilled and was able to lay the paint down with the same "rough" looking texture. How painters can spray on paint to make it glass smooth or add a little texture I will never know.
