Started out, left side speakers quit working, front and back, didn't work for a good week. Then came back outta nowhere.

Fiddling around with it, now it's to the point where if they go out, I press the tuning knob (change between am/fm) and left side audio will come back. Sometimes it doesn't work and I gotta give it a good smack and it'll come back. Its the weirdest thing, I'm pretty sure the speakers aren't blown, when audio is coming out it sounds ok. This is the stock head unit, just the plain jane am/fm non-cassette. Never had any trouble with it before.

I think its a bad connection somewhere inside the head unit. I was in the junkyard a few days ago and found an early 90's century with almost the same exact head unit, except this one had a cassette player in it. Should I tear apart the radio in it now in an attempt to band-aid or pursue the junkyard-head unit with the cassette?

I had and issue with my stock radio, the rear speakers would work sometimes, not others. When I went to install a cd player i found that the speaker connector on the back of the radio was loose and had a lot of play. snapped it into the harness to the new radio and no problems. Check here first.

I'll tear into this weekend and hopefully it'll be as easy as a bad connection. I think I am going to get new speakers anyway, the ones in it are the original 30 year old speakers. I'm looking at a set of kickers all the way around and they seem like a good deal. I think like $110 all the way around from amazon.
