your going to have to sand off every bit of rustoleum to give it a real paint job.

you cant just spray over that crap, unless you use rustoleum again.

:? he didn't even sand to begin with... why would he spray over it with real paint without sanding??

i think he knows that, he did it just to make it look a little better so it didnt look like he was driving around a rust bucket.

ooo satin is cool, but it's pricey. Flat black is the way to go for cheap

Nah, mine's satin and cheap. It's just expensive(like any good paint job) if you want it to stay looking good.
But I can just paint mine every few years to maintain it and it would still be cheap.

awww i liked the "patina" look...

there are times i love having a car with a shine-able paint job, but honestly i wish i had a nice patina car like alot of ppl on here. not for ease of maintenance but i just love the style.

I did actually do some sanding, to cut through the loose paint, to feather it (where I could), and to give a decent surface for the new paint to adhere to.

I don't have any plans to actually restore the '81, if somebody else wants to, let 'em at it  It'll be a roller with a stock suspension though.
