Last night's assembly didn't happen. He rescheduled me for tonight. That's okay though. Yesterday was Lauren's actual birthday so we took her out to dinner at some Texas restaurant out on rt9 it was good. She picked the place because she wanted steak lol

So I'm still waiting but in the meantime I'm working on a little side project and cooking sausage and peppers at the same time. I've never had a passenger door panel to speak of because it's so rough I can't bolt it on so when I was making deals and trading parts a few weeks ago I got a rotted door just for the broken panel that was on it and I'm going to make one out of the 2. I plan to die all the panels but for now I just want to make the interior complete.

So that mutilated POS is what came with the truck and this one is what I picked up to fix

It too is a mutilated POS but I think between them I can make a complete panel that will serve the purpose. Yes this is the first thing I've done to make the interior better besides the radio that does no longer work lol

Ok first of all my sausage and peppers came out awesome! But this post is about making a door panel out of a pile of garbage. I disassembled bolth panels so I could sift through the trash. Well when you mess with 38 year old junk made of plastic it tends to break. So with that being said I snapped off all the studs at the speed nuts.
IMG_20190719_195716476.jpg

But not to worry I had a plan I ground the broken studs flat but left them as long as I could and drilled holes in them
IMG_20190719_195710453.jpg

That way I could use screws in them with washers for shims so the 3/8 long screws didn't come out the face
IMG_20190719_195725992.jpg

Marking the bit with tape kept me from drilling threw.

So the end result is a complete door panel that looks like the other ones not pritty but complete
IMG_20190719_201824733.jpg

My plan was to get up early and put it on before it gets hot out but I never had one in it that was atachable so I went back out in the heat and put it on
IMG_20190719_203824894.jpg

Some day I want to take them all off and die them and the kick panels but for now Lauren won't get cut on the door anymore.

Another postponement from my builder this morning but he wants to do it early tomorrow morning before it gets hot out.
In other news my wife picked up my amphenol cable from the welding supply yesterday so I'm going to try and get some much needed mig welding done on the truck. Days like today I wish I had a garage to get out of the sun, however I never will if I don't get this stuff done so here I go. I figure if I start overheating I'll jump in the pool.

I wet out and ordered air and oil filters for the compressor and welder. Stoped at AutoZone and bought the wrong window crank just so I could roll down the passenger side window. Then I went out to my trailer aka body shop. It's hot and the hood is hotter! I tried to flip it over on the horse to prep it for edging and dropped it off the horse. I guess that was a bad call on my part. Luckily hit the wood deck of the trailer and not the steel rail. Bolth back corners dug into the wood and didn't bend over. So with that I got it back on the horse And went inside. Not to worry though I brought in the new used dash pad so I can get it ready to go in

I'll mess with it as soon as it cools down a bit
