i called blue oval ranch this past tuesday 12-22-15, he does NOT have any of these rims. that is an old site that is stuck in the internet he stated. those rims were produced by, iirc specialty wheel, but was bought buy coker tire, along with wheel vintiques and maybe another. no one is producing the centers for these rims. they are cores from used rims with new hoops installed over them when needed. i infer from the conversation i had with him that we need to contact coker to get these wheels into production.

Yup, that's what I thought. BlueOval didn't even respond to me.

These wheels were sadly made pretty poorly from day one. I understand if you can lug mount them to the balancer [which I don't know anyone who does that] or know anyone that can spin balance them on the car [which I don't], they do balance better. The centers are just out of round in relation to the lugs. 3 out of 4 that are currently on my car spin balance with quite a bit of weight and the 4th has to be bubble balanced with about a pound and a half of wheel weights. The other 2 are just too bad to even try. I tried them on the rear, put it on jack stands, and ran the car slowly and they literally hop up and down on the car. It's pretty ridiculous.

Sadly, I didn't notice this problem until I wore out those incredibly soft factory mounted Goodyear Eagle IIs that only lasted 24K miles. I put on a better, higher mileage, and harder compound set on and all the balance problems showed up. Though not in miles, I was well beyond my 3 years warranty period by then so I was SOL on that. The dealer helped me find 2 more wheels [on their dime] so I have the 4 that are at least usable on the car now. They certainly didn't have to do that. Just wish I could get 4 new ones and would probably go up to 15x8s that are, um, concentrically round? Silly me . . .

If I didn't love the stock 442 look so much, I'd get some 17 or 18 inch after market wheels. Nothing that breaks my heart more though than seeing an old 442 with 20" spinners on it . . .

Agreed on the aftermarket rims.

I am surprised though that no one can find an aftermarket supplier for SSIII's. Coker Tire, Wheel Vintiques and others also used to sell them.

coker bought wheel vintiques. and now sell ss1 rims because there is a larger audience than the ss111. the ss1 rim looks like a magnum 500 rim. well ford, mopar, chevy, olds, and buick all had something like it at one time or another.
