if they are made to fit right why so many shims? That starter sounds too cheap to me.

no i got that starter from skip white for $68... it just takes a week fir delivery...

Their stuff is cheap for a reason and that's all I'm gunna say.

I have 3 years on my skip white starter with no issues and will be running one on the big block. Many people use them without problems and most including mine have a lifetime warranty.

ok, soooo, the cheap NAPA remanufactured starter is in... 10° out, blistery cold wind, but its in... it aint pretty, but its in... for some UNGODLY reason the new starter didnt come with bolts and the longer of the two from the old starter was about a 1/4" to long, so the starter wouldnt sit flush... after probably an hour of fighting with this thing in the dark, in my driveway, with a headlamp that wouldnt stay on i finally figured out why it wasnt working... so i dropped a 1/4 round billet aluminum "washer" onto the bolt, slid the bolt in, and tightened the hell out of it... the so called 1/4 "washer i used was a lock nut for after market window crank handles... it aint pretty but it works till my good one gets here...
