Starting the search for a new family car

Some of you are aware my wife and I had our first child last October. Our little boy is quite a large child 🤣 sitting in the >99% in all categories and is already outgrowing 2T clothing at 10 months. We have two trucks right now, 2006 crew cab 2500hd durmax and a 2015 double cab tacoma. The tacoma is our primary commuter and family car and the big truck is used for towing and longer drives. Unfortunately the tacoma does not fit the car seat very well as you have to push the passenger seat all the way up to the dash which I feel is both unsafe and majorly uncomfortable for any full size adult to sit in. We hoped that once he goes forward facing I would be able to rejoin her in the front seat but after some test fitting that does not appear to be an option. Mind you I am 6'3" and my wife is 5'11". So now the search has started for a larger back seat, we want to avoid vans or large SUVs as we do not plan on having any more children ✂️. Our budget tops out at $38k and would be willing to go used with low miles <40K, fuel economy is not on the top of my list of needs but reliability and comfort is.

Drove one at work one time, we have a few here. Got home, took a shower and had to go drive my Z06 just to shake off the horror.

Heard them called man van, war wagon, mom missile.. nothing cool about that Karen box on wheels. The people who drive them here drive horrible, mostly tourists with the whole tribe of misfits packed into it full of luggage.

I guess the fitting option would be a crossover type vehicle, several people I know have one and like them.

I was hoping dodge was going to do a hellcat minivan, that might be the only true way to get me behind the wheel of one 🤣 .

We threw the car seat in my mothers Subaru Forester and even that back seat is about the size of the tacoma. So far another full size truck might be the best option so far. Would love a four door wrangler so it an be used on the weekends as well. But the seat measurements are looking pretty tight.
