Hey all, I'm having an issue with the stock steering box on my 85 cutlass. The car pulls to the right . I know its the box because I had the car on an alignment rack with the front wheels on roller plates. As soon as the car was started, the wheels jerked a bit to the right. Just curious if anyone else has seen this, or knows what the problem is. Thanks

The most important thing on the box is that the flat of the box input shaft needs to be straight up with the wheel straight. If the steering wheel is straight, but the box flat is not straight up, the steering wheel needs to be pulled off and and rotated until it is.

If the car is aligned with the steering box not centered it will be loose on center and could power off center.

If the flat or center spline is straight up and the wheel is straight and the car goes straight on the road, but the power steering is trying to pull it off center, get a reman box get your box rebuilt.

I had a 93 Chev truck that had a pull to the right from new. It was an internal leak in the box.
Shut off the engine while driving and the pull went away.

That's a great idea. I'll give that a try. I'm pretty sure the end result here will be me have to get a new box.
