I took the week off to work on my car. So many road blocks. Anyway, I have an 84 Grand Prix in which I am doing an engine swap (231 V6 to SBC 350) and among others things, also switching from column to floor shift.

Anyway, I have a "blank" sleeve floor shift steering column from an 81 GP (no wiper switch in the coulmn) that had been in an accident. My 84 has a wiper switch in the column. Both are tilt columns. I am trying to change the shifter sleeve to a blank sleeve. Is there any good procedures out there on tearing down the steering column?

To get that deep into the column you'll need some specialized tools to pull the pivot joints. I don't believe they're terribly expensive or hard to find, but plan on taking several hours, more if it's your first time. Go slow, and take notes of how things came apart and go back together. Let me know if you have any questions.

on a side note, would an S-10 truck column work in a g-body?
