I was just wondering if anyone knows the size of the stock front and rear swaybars? I had a 81 that didnt have a rear swaybar,so does my 83 have a factory package? And how can I tell if I got posi without smokin the tires obviously.lol Im asking these questions because my cutlass seems to have random factory options.

You might have the f41 package that gives you front and rear bars. And for the posi-jack it up, put it in neutral, spin one tire by hand. If the other tire spins in the same direction as the one you are spinning then its most likley a posi. If it goes the opposite direction then its just an open rear.

That be nice if it was! Ill have to do that...So they didnt come with a rear sway bar unless it had a package?

all cutlass's came with both front and rear swaybars as part of the suspension package.......the only difference was the thickness of the bars. salons and 442 had the beefer bars.
if you got no sway bars.......somethings wrong!

Are you sayin that all optional suspension packages had a rear swaybar or that they all had one no matter what? They all had fronts obviously but not rears.sorry im slow

i am pretty sure they ALL had front and rear awaybars......its part of the design. as i stated before...............the only difference was the thickness of the bars. salons and 442 had the beefer bars.
if you got no sway bars.......somethings wrong!

442/ salon suspension below

F41 Factory Option

Level II Firm Ride and Handling Suspension System, Includes: Firm Ride Front and Rear Shock Absorbers, Higher Rate Front and Rear Springs, Larger Front Stabilizer Bar (1.25 in. Diameter), Rear Stabilizer Bar (.875 in. Diameter) and Special Steering Gear 12.70:1 Steering Ratio

the factory suspension package for most supreme/broughm was like a 3/4" sway bar front and rear

you had to order the f41 package for extra cash....of coarse

hope that helps

if thats your car in your album......looks like your front swaybar is the larger diameter one. stop and look under a few cutlass's ya see around.. escpecially the ones with grampa spoke rims still on them.......you will see the difference

Yea thats my car.Yea thanks for the help. Now its got me wondering what happened to the rear one on my 81 because it was a fully loaded supreme brougham. It even had the marker lights on the top of each fender that showed your turn signal, brights and normal lights I think was the other.

ya, i have seen hundreds of these cars......and they all have rear swaybars, as far back as 1979 for sure.
somebody removed it for whatever redneck reason
