Off topic CO rant-
The people I knew from back home in HS that were big recreational users in a state that it wasn't legal and had little to no usable skills or work ethic decided to move to CO to become dispensary clerks right after the "legalize it" boom. They were promised big bucks, easy hours and the ability to sample the merchandise. They were even promised to be paid to fly them down and housing was covered, what a deal! Well they couldn't see through that smoke (pun intended)
They were picked up in a rusty safari van full of other like minded people and were driven the 18 hour trip to be dumped in some run down apt. and had to live stacked on top of each other. The management figured a 3 bedroom apt. could fit 10 people since 3 bedrooms + 2 couches= 5 beds and 12hr shifts mean only 5 people could be home at any time so no big deal.
Essentially they ended up in indentured servitude since they were paid garbage, over worked, and they all blew all their money on the merchandise in the store they worked. They couldn't work up enough money to get an actual apt. for a down payment and couldn't afford to get back home. Luckily the guy I kinda knew had his parents buy him a bus ticket or something and he got home.
Most people that get bussed there can't get a factory, construction or other well paying job since they had little to no skillset since they were 19 year old with no experience and none of them could pass a drug test. Plus, the ones that had strong backs couldn't use them because it might blow their ruse of needing it medically in whatever home state they came from.
Not surprising crime has gone up when you bus people there to pay them virtually nothing and they get desperate to scrape up cash and get home. A lot of great people move to CO who aren't recreational users and a lot of great people are recreational users outside of CO but if you put a bird feeder in your yard and get rodents trying to eat the bird feed you can't be surprised.
