So my concern is simple I was trying to make my engine Bay look brand new agian so I went to work with WD40 and a eletric brush. The engine and the side walls are beautiful but when I started to brush the grime off the frame the paint went with the Grime

Has that happen to anyone else?

And what kind of paint should I put back down Tremclad Black?

When I was doing the frame of my 78, the same thing happened on the cradle. Metal looked brand new, not a pit. Primed and painted satin black. You can also use chassis black from eastwood, heard it's one of the best.

this is what i used, the durability is real nice and if i spent time cleaning it up, it would probably look like the day it was applied

the frames are not painted.they call it body wax.it is a type of undercoating that goes on liquid and then hardens.i have just recently found it to use in my body shop when we have to heat a frame to straighten it.

ya all the factories use that stuff too, but i wouldnt really recommend that on any custom job.
