Stupid car mods you love to hate?

There is nothing wrong with a properly executed import, it's the needlessly tacky carbage that seems to sprout from 16 year olds with their first car, a Mc Job and a nearby Wal Mart that I dislike. I just feel like telling them that mommy's hand me down Camry is not a race car, no matter how much you spent on an ill-fitting E-Bay body kit and plastic spinner hubcaps!

the eclipse engine isnt the replacement for displacement, I can slap a turbo on a small block and make twice the HP I already do now aswell.
Shakes my head.
Boost is boost, you can put it on anything.
I hope you got a 6bolt 4g63t
If not

What exactly is a DSM. I have heard it has to do with Eagles and Talons, but what is it??

DSM is short for Diamond Star Motors. It was made up of a partnership between Mitsubishi ( literal translation from Japanese: Three Diamonds), and Chrysler-which used the Pentastar logo--hence the name. The partnership was not limited to the Eclipse/Talon/Laser triplets, but also included some other cars that are notable only for their blandness, like the Colt/Summit/Mirage(except the rare turbo version with a 4G61t 1.6 liter variant of the Eclipse, etc. engine. Sometimes they are called CSM's), the Colt Vista/Mitsubishi Expo/Eagle something small minivan, and probably something else I can't recall the name of. It is also interesting to note that these are not the only vehicles with these Mitsubishi engines. A variant of the 4G6 family powered the Hyundai Elantra, the 4G61t powered the Scoupe Turbo, and the Excel shared the engine/trans with the Mirage for a while. Later Hyundai introduced the Alpha engine which sadly replaced the Mitsubishi engines they had built under license for the first 10-15 years of Hyundai's existence. Also, Malaysian car maker Proton may have used these engines as it was producing out dated Mitsubishi products when it first came about. Proton is notable today as it owns Lotus cars of England.

First you can't boost just anything and expect it to last. And yes I have a 6 bolt. And all boost is not the same all turbos have an effective range. And no you can't just plop a turbo on a small block and have double my horsepower. Example being take a 200 horse 350 plop a turbo on it and run 7.5 lbs of boost and guess what, you may have pickup 75 to 100 hp at the crank. I am putting down somewhere between 400 to 450 at the wheels now so it's not like comparing the same thing. And my car omly weights 2500 lbs. Most small block cars wieght around 3500 lbs so my weight to power ratio is alot better. Also the expense on boosting a small block is up there on the price chart. Also the crankwalk theory is just that It is not like every 7 bolt will suffer from it. The actual percentage is like 5 to 7 percent have which is nothing and of the 5 to 7 most were from people using to stiff of a clutch with a stock engine with high miles. But you have brought up a point on turboing a sb. In stock form they can't handle much boost but built and they can handle a tremendous shot.

How gutted is your car? My friends 1993 Eclipse GSX Auto was 3100lbs.

Oh, and I forgot one DSM: The Mitsubishi 3000gt, and Dodge Stealth.

try this web site, its perfect lol  http://www.riceboypage.com/ oh my other car is a 94 saturn i riced out just because there are no upgrades for my car at all. well just suspention and rims, thats it. i put rims on it and it doesnt look bad, but it doesnt look good eather. my muffler fell off so i bought some pipe and the biggest crome tip that would fit on the pipe and called it a day. i also put strobes in the headlights a while back but they crapped out so i ripped them off. i got stickers in the windows and new 6 1/2" speakers and a 12 sub. i did all the work my self except putting the engine and trans in. www.cardomain.com/id/beermonkey9417 in case ya wanna take a look at my reliable sh*t box.

Heheh... you know, my job was recently audited for licensing (we have to be licensed to operate, since we're state-funded). And I had the task of getting our vehicles, a pair of 2006 Toyota Siennas, up to par.

So, armed with the company Walmart card, I went out to get some cleaning supplies. Being in a slightly vindictive mood (my manager likes to irritate me, as she thinks I'm there to do her job), I decided to rice out our vans.

Believe you me, it was fantastic to see her rolling up to the state representative in a 2006 Toyota Sienna sporting a giant chrome exhaust tip, big tint strips across the windshield, "spinner" wheel covers, stickers everywhere. I should've taken a picture.

I also, for some reason, decided to put a chrome tip on my beater Mercury. This lasted for all of six hours before reason got the better of me and I took it off:

That exhaust tip made my Mercury go way faster.

1G weights are as follows. These are aproximate fwd 5spd 2550, fwd auto 2712, Awd 5spd 2770, and Awd auto 3108.
2g weights are as follows fwd 5spd 2842, fwd auto 2998, Awd 5spd 3157, and awd auto 3295. So my car was under 2800 lbs from the start. I only removed about 200 to 250 lbs from it. I removed the spare, jack and all the stuff from the hatch area. I removed the a/c and all its componants. I run a lighter wheel and tire package and a few pounds lighter exhaust. Every little bit I found adds up. But these car are light to begin with. And I don't want to step on anyones toes by saying "I" think the 4G63 is the replacement for displacement. What I was meaning was that from the factory these cars have run just about the same hp as most v-8s that came out of the fact not to long ago, Hell maybe a little more. And they are only a 122 cid motor. They respond to upgrades very well. That is why I chose to build this car in the first place. But these are "my'' opinons. I have less the $10k in this car and that is with the purchase price of the car included and I run mid 11's in the 1/4. I am not by anyway knocking V-8's. I now own a 80' Cutlass that I am building and I am loving doing it. V-8's make outstanding power when built right but our g-body's from the fact left alot to be desired in the power aspect. Hell a non turbo dsm would walk all over my cutlass as it sits. But I am planning on putting mine in the low 12's to high 11's when I am finished and kepping it on the street. And no I don't street race ever. I run at the track only.
