One of the things to be aware of the incandescent bulb gets hot. You can use a replacement LED lamp in its place as they get slightly warm, but I haven't run into any that get blistering hot. Sometimes you'll find the gray plastic part warped and or browned due to excessive heat. Just be aware of that. I ran across that on my gray 85 442.

Galaxy far far away
Fiber optics were very popular in the 80's.

Looks like the end of the fiber optic cable that plugs into the side of the headlight switch.

Pretty sure this is on a different circuit than the dash lights so that fuse is not likely the problem. Is the socket and cover so cooked you can't salvage it.

I don't think you can find one of these except in a junkyard. It would be little work to retrofit it to an LED and heat shrink the fiber optic cable to the LED.

Put a new bulb in it and see if it works

Same bulb a s a couple of the dash lights and the marker lights outside.

You can see what 442 was talking about it gets hot, for the long term I would put an LED bulb in there so it doesn't cook anymore.

Okay and light works when headlights are on or stays on...
