I thought about this swap to but just didn't know what was envolved with it.. would be diffrent and parts are cheap as far as donor cars go

Sure .......if you have an unlimited budget.

For those of us without deep pockets.....a $300 ebay turbo, flipped FWD exh manifolds, DIY merge and downpipe.....offer a lot of bang for the buck.

Unlimited budget and wanted to go slower. Turbos are always going to faster than SC's. The Only reasons GM and Dodge SC their supercars is cold start emissions and the ease that someone would squeeze 1000 HP out of them with just a tune and then ask for warranty when they destroyed stuff.

Ugh...

I wouldn't run the fwd manifolds on an fwd car

Two...
Turbos on these motors are good for paper performance. The guys making 5-600 HP on turbo 3800s barely outrun the 3-400 HP supercharged 3800s. Plus on the turbo cars you have to dump a lot more $ in the trans

And have you ever seen eBay turbo carnage? The "cheap" turbo route gets expensive AF quick when one lets go

That is because you are talking a about FWD cars. A RWD turbo car will runaway and hide from a Supercharged car running the same octane gas with the same level motor build.

The Transmission needs be stronger because horsepower and torque will do that to a transmission.

And you can get a CSC for $1k. By the time you buy the $300 eBay turbo, buy a second one when it fails, and another motor to replace yours when the first turbo went....

Drive wheels don't really matter on it. Actually the fwd turbo has the advantage because of less drive line loss. The reason for the need for more trans work is because of the jumpier power curve. At the same power levels the turbo car always needs more trans work

My T-type ran mid 11's @118 with the stock Transmission and never had an issue, though the ability to leave at 10 psi and have 20PSI of boost 10 feet from the line is a little harder on a transmission (and is not going to happen with a SC). At the same "peak" power level the turbo motor can have way more torque because once the turbo spools boost and RPM are not coupled. Peak torque is "as soon as the turbo spools" which with a stock GN turbo is as low as 2,200 RPM. There is no "jumpiness". It's called torque.

A stock GN turbo on a 3800 in a 3,600lb Gbody would be good for high 11's @ 112 with good gas and a hard launch. A TA49 sould be good for low 11's and 120mph.

What do SC's run pulling 3600lbs?

My dd makes 10 psi off the line. And it is jumpiness. If the motor is only making 250 lb ft before turbo spools then goes to 400 at 2200 rpms that is a spike. Look at an sc 3800 making around 350 HP and around 400 lb ft.....it'll be making the majority of its tq off idle with no need to spool.

And there is supercharged gtps in the 11s BTW. With the admittedly undersized m90
