I made a jig for my press. I figured I would try to make some factory style crimps on some thin wall tubing to make some fender to core support braces.
All I had laying around was 3/4" emt so I tried it with that. These are for mock up only if I decide to use some I will use a thicker wall tubing and then blast and paint them low gloss black.
I already have the factory chassis braces but if I didn't I could make those as well.

I think the chassis braces are quite a bit sturdier than this, aren't they? These look really good though, good idea. When you get them installed, would you mind posting your results? I'm curious to know if these will make much of a difference over the stock wire ones. Thanks!

I definitely think the chassis braces are thicker wall tubing. The 3/4" emt was just for mock up only(all I had laying around) and just to give me an idea how the crimped end will look but the emt is already more rigid than those wire fender to core supports.
I will have to actually jack up my car(to low) to get some diameter and wall thickness measurements but I'm thinking IMC conduit should be thick enough for chassis braces.
I will make a set, mount them and then if I like the look and fit I will keep them on there.
I'll post some pics either way once I decide which tubing to use.

You should make the rad support to firewall braces that were on the early Montes. 8)

Finally got around to finishing the fender to core support braces, I decided I'm also going to make my chassis braces in a similar fashion but with thicker tubing than the factory and probably integrate a cross bar (similar to a gp bar)

wow that looks nice, you should be doing this stuff for monies!

they do look real nice and there is a market for them, especially the GP bar

is it the angle of the picture or is your carb sitting on an angle? That engine looks awesome..

Yeah, I noticed that too after I posted it. My front end is up on jack stands because I was looking at the chassis bars that's when I took the picture.

I finished the mock ups for my chassis bars, the tubing I used is almost twice as thick as the factory bars.
I also drilled and tapped the lower holes for 1/2" bolts rather than those little 12mm? And also used 1/2" bolts for the upper but the holes were already big enough.
