hello my name is vinnie and im new to the site i am a young self taught mechanic and have a deep love for the chevys i am currently working on an 1988 and a 1984 caprice and would like some suggestions and opinions on getting a higher stance to acquire the big rims and maybe an airbag setup any and all help will be very much appreciated
=== keep wrenching Big V

only suggestion i have is buy a set of 15" rims and run 2" drop spindles... :rofl: sorry, i'm no help when it comes to lifting a car, but i would imagine, you should start by STRENGTHENING the structural integrity of the vehicle...

what size wheel are you going to put on them. my monte i fit 22's no problem

The mod you are asking about has been VERY popular for many years now. It has been well documented how to DIY and there are many companies sell ready made kits specifically for your make and model of car. The options and combinations for lifting are endless.
The big question is how much do you want to spend on doing it? It can get fairly expensive to do it safely AND correctly. Even with doing your own labor.

I personally have seen 24's on Box Chevys with no lift running 30 series tires. IIRC they were 255/30/24 all the way around. That is way too little side wall for me but it looked a MILLION times better than being lifted IMO.

HTH

i ran 22in irocs with 30's sidewall no problem. and know after putting the moog 5606 springs in i know for sure it would tuck the 24's up front......

i forgot to say in the rear i ran spacers to keep the 22s off of the frame. but sence then i have notched the frame and narrowed the frame rail. i hate using spacers on wheels..
