I am wondering what you guys think I should do.

My klacking 307 is going to get pulled out of the Cutlass and put on a test stand.

Should I replace it with the single-turbo Buick 350 out of my 72 Skylark

or

Should I put a cam in the Buick 430 I have and shoehorn the bigblock into the Olds?

I am kind of leaning towards the 350turbo setup....

What do you think?

I'd make life easy and find an Olds 350 to the keep work and headaches to a minimal. If I wanted to go for a turbo set-up I wouldn't even bother with an older engine, I would go LS all the way and have the advantages of modern tech, tuning, better parts, drivability, gas mileage, and good aftermarket support. I like Buick too, but I think you're creating more work for yourself. On another note, unless you're planning to do a full rebuild with quality parts & machine work I wouldn't dare put a turbo on a 30+ y/o engine. It's a recipe for disaster.

Out of curiosity, why would you bother putting a tired 307 on a test stand? I'd put it on the bed of a truck so I can roll it off for scrap LOL!

Agreed 100%^^^.

How is the the 430 being a "shoehorn" fit compared to the 350 w/turbo?

Are you trying to be different or get the best bang for the buck?

Different? Then 350 Turbo, although they dont have a great track record for surviving on the cheap.
Best bang for the buck, the 430.

If the turbo setup is mild, youd end up with the same power in the end anyway.

Well I have two cars and the two engines. Just trying to decide which to put where. I am not sure what fits best in a Gbody and thought Id see what others had to say.

I am not concerned with power etc just having fun with them. And I agree they will both probably be pretty close in power level.

Ken;

In that case, maybe flip a coin?

I think TA has everything you need to put both motors in there. Maybe no solution for the turbo but the rest shouldnt be a problem.

Ken Ken Ken,,,,, I know what you are going to do.......lol. Put the 350 in there like I did and show it off here. The drop in 350 is a breeze and I would lilke to see our engine work with a turbo pass through qjet.

I dont know. If I move the trubo 350 into the cutlass, then the trunk setup has to go. I would have to put the turbo in the engine compartment, which means fabricating a custom manifold......Its not an easy drop it in and go thing.

Still undecided

Alright well I decided on a direction.

Toby was right. I will put the 430 in my skylark and drop the Buick 350 in the Cutlass.

I will have to reconfigure the turbo setup for the Cutlass, but thats half the fun.

This is what happens ini the cold winter months....I cant leave well enough alone.
