Im swapping my TH350 for a TH400 on my 79 El Camino. Does anyone know what kind of car I can get a crossmember that fits? The crossmember for my TH350 doesnt line up right. Also the TH400 doesnt have a spot for a kickdown cable but i do see a spot for a electric plug. Does anybody know what its for? Thanks in advance.....

Ok there isn't any G-body car that came with a Th400, I think IIRC that you can make a TH200r4 crossmember work with some adjustments, know as far as the kick down you will need to use a switch since the kickdown was electrical on the 400, hopefully someone else will chime in with more info

The 400 has a different yoke then the 350, so you drive shaft needs to have the right yoke and length. 200r4 cross.

Whats wrong with the th350 that is in it?

So would it be best to go with a 200r4 or 700r4 instead of the TH400?
he was saying you need a different yoke and the 200r4 crossmember will allow the turbo 400 to bolt in place.
the turbo 400 will make your car slower, I wouldnt swap from a th350 unless you have serious power. th350's can be built to handle about a 10 second g body car so... I'd say just get a rebuild/shift kit/torque converter

Good choice, I have a full manual valve body and am about to swap my converter for a 1200 stall  don't do that. I'm making her into a highway cruiser but the shifts are firm, decently quick for an auto, and it hauls, th350 is a great transmission.

Nothings wrong with it, trying to get the best performance.

Then stick with it. TH350 is one of if not the best performance automatic transmissions out there.
