picked up a sway bar today at the junkyard for $5. It was off a Olds Cutlass Cruiser. Are they the same sway bars that are on the monte ss, 442s etc...?

doubt it. even the ss 442 and the like didn't always have the largest bar. the one you want is the F-41 bar. it's usually found on a performance model and the front measures 1 1/4 and the rear is 7/8 i believe. you also want the front chassis braces if you can get them.

the easiest way to size it is with different open end wrenches. IIRC the 2 choices, in this case, are 3/4 and 7/8. not counting the rust. 🙂

The SS and 442's etc all had the F41 package as standard equiptment.

The 442/SS/GN had a thicker bar up front than other gbodys. You could also get a basically same thickness front bar only they called it 34mm off an early 90s Fbody that was hollow. Being hollow takes weight off the front of your car and it was a little stiffer. Direct bolt on. Also fwiw on the WS6 suspension packaged Fbodys they had a 36mm bar. Works majic for the guys who put heavy BBC under the hood.
