There's been another development as well: the trans is toast. After very little warning she finally stopped shifting into 3rd when I drove away from work this evening, and as soon as I was sure it wasn't just a late occurring shift I pulled off to the side of the road and turned my hazard lights on. I checked the cable, fluid, etc and came to the conclusion that I'd be driving home at 40 mph so I pulled the release for the switch and the sucker snapped off in my hand.
After apologizing to my car I stopped for gas to minimize my chance of walking. While I was there a nice gentleman stopped to offer assistance since I was checking everything- the turn signal indicators told me that I blew out a brake light bulb and needed to know which side. I don't know if they normally make it obvious which side is out but I've got LED bulbs in my front markers so both of my dash indicators glow slightly when the lights are on. There was no glow at all and hitting the brakes made them both bright. We had a quick chat about G Bodies and his '78 Cutlass before going our separate ways, so that was cool.
Luckily I have a TH350 I can take from the Camino, and have an 1,800 stall converter on the shelf to go with it. I'm also off the next 4 days and the weather is supposed to be great. However, I have either an M.D., Ortho, P.T., or lawyer appointment each day so I'm not sure how this will go down. I have the goods, the tools, and the space to get rolling again so I'll dig into that right away and make something happen though. I guess the suspension is taking a back seat for now but you've convinced me to go all in as far as what's in the picture I posted, and when I get to that I'll have F41, 34 mm, and 36 mm front bars and F41, Spohn, and 23 mm Blazer rear bars to try out.
