Easy question to someone with the knowledge. Google has become flooded with useless results.

My quick question to a longer story. I have a monte I swapped a 350tbi into. I want to keep the tbi motor for a few more years, but would like to swap to a ls motor in the future (1+ year atleast). I would like to swap in a t56. I'm getting conflicting answers about which parts to get in hopes that once my conversion for the tbi is done, will that same transmission mount to the ls motor in the future?

You can use the same trans mount for a SBC. The LS motors are more compact with no rear distributor so you can slide them back further, and the mount/shifter hole can go back further, but it will mount fine in the stock SBC location, too.

The T56 will need mods to swap between the two motors, however.

1993 M29 T56, 1994-1997 T56 fits the SBC.
1998-2001 LS1 Fbody T56 (RPO Code MN6) and 2004-2006 GTO T56 (RPO CODE MN12) fits the LS Engines.

The difference between the two is the Input Shaft, Front Plate, and Bell Housing. These parts can be swapped, need to check the shaft pre-loads and lash when doing so.

I forgot about the GTO's.
