What's the easiest way to find out the coolant temperature? Do you need something special or is there a way to just stick a temperature probe from a multimeter somewhere?

Well if you dont want to put in collant gauge (the kind that mounts in your dash)
Or you could use someting like this http://www.ecklerscamaro.com/product.as ... pt_id=1220
It says its for a camaro, but you get the idea.

But i think you could get a fairly inexspensive gauge to put in your dash for less then the radiator cap/temp gauge setup.

using a infrared or a contact thermometer from a multimeter works fine. just take the temp at multiple points like the radiator inlet and outlet, t-stat, and water pump.
