well for the past couple months ive been looking for a better job but its a bit hard due to my schedule of my current job so me and my dad were talking today and he does general contracting capping siding etc to put a long story short i might have a chance to work with him but he says i need to know how to read a tape measure by heart i know how to read one but i have to figure out the fractions in my head he says thats not good enough would anyone know of a picture or link thats shows the tape measure with the fractions on it already so i can look at it and try to remember it

I dont know if you wanna go this route but they do sell tape measures with all the fractions written on it. Might help until ya memorize them then switch to one that does not have them.
 
I'd second getting what I call a Dummy Tape, and I also use one for setting up the oil pump pickups in engines.
 
One trick I use... is to always remember that the shorter the vertical line is, the higher the denominator is...and the smaller the measured amount. Most contractors I know dont use tapes with anything smaller than 1/16 for most measures (instead,they use a light/heavy adjustment). Stairtreads and interior trim work usually needs more accuracy however.
