I REMEMBER reading on here where someone went through installing a TBI SETUP ON AN oLDS ENGINE, WITH HOW TO WIRE THE DISTRIBUTOR AND ALL, BUT CAN'T IT, (sorry about the damn caps) I'm going to swap tbi onto mine and swap to a 4L60E as well. I will run a '94-'95 pcm and harness to accomplish transmission control, etc... Any info would be great!

I would like some info on where a person finds the TBI setups. I have only seen one intake for sale. To be fair, I haven't looked for them really, but I wouldn't mind doing a setup like this.
Are most people just running a 4bbl carb intake and using an aftermarket TBI, or are they using old factory stuff?

I know the write-up you're talking about but haven't seen it in a few years. I think he used everything from a 305 and installed the TBI set-up on a 307. I recall something about him fabbing custom linkage or throttle bracket too. I'd just start googling and see what pops up. I'm sure it's been brought up on www.oldspower.com , www.realoldspower.com or www.hotrodders.com before.

I think the stock 305 ECU should run a relatively stock TBI 307 with no problems. Use the CCC HEI distributor from the 307. The ignition module has the same terminals as the Chevy TBI module, you'll just have to change the connector. Be sure you get an ECU without VATS or else one that has VATS disabled. The wiring to the ALDL connector is different for the TBI motors, so you'll need to swap that as well. Use the TBI sensors, not the CCC sensors. You can even use the knock sensor and ESC module from a 1990 307 Custom Cruiser.

Thanks for the info, I'll need a custom prom I think because mine is .030" over competition valve job on 2.00/1.625 valves. Heads are milled .012, bowl port, balanced blue printed bottom end, 10/10 crank, etc... 473/212 @ .050" cam, and roller rockers. Performer intake, usual mild engine combo stuff. Nothing radical in any of it, and I would not have spent the money on a 307, but it works extremely well and I don't want to lose that with a generic prom. Plus I want to tweak the transmission shift points a bit. I appreciate the wiring and sensor info, saves me a ton of research! 8)

The computer does not control the transmission shift points.

Custom computer is a very good idea. There are the fully programmable ECM's out there for the TBI. I run a 94 truck set up on my 5A 307 headed 350 Olds with the 204/214 generic cam in my 94 4x4. The truck runs good, have mostly gotten rid of the check engine light. What Joe says is true about the CCC distributor wiring and I am using ALL the sbc sensors. The only issues are a slightly rich cold start and not enough timing built in. Remember Olds like a lot more timing. Bumping up the base timing 21 degrees did help a lot, forget about running the factory 0 setting. 10 base gives around 36-38 total. I only have around 45 total, would like a couple more part throttle degrees and less total timing.
