ANyone running this set up? I have a sbc 383 that i wouldnt mind putting the serp. set up on. I need a bigger alternator anyway because the electric fan is killing it. I figured why not just make it serpentine as oppose to v belt. All thoughts welcomed!!! thanks!

Serp setups will have to have a reverse-flow water pump if I am not mistaken. I put a CS-142 (I think) 300 amp alternator on my 94 lesabre because I had a big stereo in it. The one I got physically is bigger than factory since it was based for a v-8 truck but it worked great. I sold the stereo and still have the alternator if you are interested. I think it was ~$325 new.

Serpentine is where its at on any motor......the main reason I went with it was tired of throwing v-belts on my car and I saw some serious damage to a 65 Tempest belonging to a friend of mine......I scored all my components for $60 at a local junkyard off of a 89 V6 S-10 Blazer thats pulleys, pumps, a/c, and fan......sandblasted, etching primer, and painted......for what you need everytihng off the front of a Caprice should cover but the alternator from a Caddy, Roadmaster, or GMC van.....heres how my application turned out.........

I would strongly suggest you get rid of that gas filter you have sitting on your valve cover...they have caused a few fires in cars..

Good catch GP.......but this was a mock up photo before it went road dog on last years Hot Rod Power Tour.if you look closer you see the fuel line used to get the right run of how I wanted it to be....long story short it has an anodized blue Earls filter on it since the shake down runs we did on it.......and GP I broke 3 of those filters just in the building, cranking, and tuning of the motor which let me know they wouldn't be permanent on my car.............

I didn't realise that was just a mock up but I'd rather jump the gun than read about a fire..I don't even know why they are still allows on the market cause some don't know that it can fail and cause a fire

Thanks guys i really got a lot from this thread. I will more than likely run an electric fan. I will just have to measure to see if i run into any clearance problems but from the looks of the picture posted with clutch fan i should be fine.
