i figured out the trans problem for real this time, i need a different one, after drinking 12 quarts of transmission fluid, and still not being read on the stick, nor would the tires spin when put in drive, i guess i figured out that th-350 isnt going to work. The ONLY transmission we have at our junk yard is a th-400, so i need to know:

1: are the flywheel and torque converter the same?
2: will cross member be the same?
3: if crossmember is different, where can i find out to fit?

Im on my last limb here, and there isnt a th-350 for sale within 80 miles, and i dont want to put a th-200 in. It suckes ive gotta get the drive shaft modified, but my grandpa knows a guy... so hopefuly it wont be too bad. kinda sucks, i lost almost 3 quarts of transmission fluid (4 of the 12 are $7.50 b&m thick shift for the new convertor.)

the 400 converter is larger but there are duel bolt patterns on he flex plate so that should fit. The cross member needs to be moved and the yoke on the 400 is different then the 350. The 400 is I think 3/4" longer so the drive shaft should be ok. I don't think there is a detent cable on a 400, the kickdown is and electric set up....

yeah ive got the yoke for the drive shaft, my grandpa swore the torque converters were the same... but idk, id hate to have to buy another one being ive already scratched up the new Jegs convertor.

ok good, i just looked it up the converter i bout is for a th-350 and th400! sweet!

The mount on the TH400 is just about in the same place as on the 200-4R. You will need the 200-4R crossmember. You will also need a new front yoke and a custom shortened driveshaft.

If i remember correctly you can swap the tailhousing out of a th375 and put it on the th400 to retain the 2004r or th350 trans pad location i cant remember which one, but could be the th350....

good luck finding a th375, but seeing as it is a th400 with a different housing, he could also find a short tail th400 with better luck. (the th250 is equally hard to find, both those transmissions are scrapped before anyone thinks about a rebuild)

You could also weld a thick heavy piece of steel on the crossmember toward the back of the car (a few inches back after you drill the hole where the mount needs to be. it'd take 10 minutes and you wouldn't need to move the crossmember.

If your not planning on keeping the th 400 in your car then why not just put that 200 transmission in for now if it works ok till you find another 350.....
