The cable from your trans is for an early (pre-78 A body) type application. I went through hell finding the correct bracket/cable combo for my coupe. Very few yards have the older stuff anymore. I did eventually find one from a buddy's stash. There are many different OE brackets for throttle cables and trans cables, some hold each separately, others hold both.
I cant believe this is turning into such a pain in the buttThe early versions use the slotted end, later versions use the clip-on end from what I've seen
With an aftermarket bracket, it's really going to be a crapshoot as to which one is going to be best fitment. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of adjusting to be done after bracket is mounted. I wound up buying 2 cables (plus the one that was on the trans when I got it), and changing them in the car is no fun.
