Is there any disadvantage to using a TH350C versus a TH350? Particularly, any internal differences that would have an effect on durability?

I thought the only difference between the 2 was the computer/TCC function of the "C" version. Both should take the same amount of mid-level abuse in stock form that TH350's can take. Just as noted by Wraith, no Street Outlaws abuse.

Yes, that's the general belief, but wondered if anybody had first-hand experience with the 2 Local trans rebuilder doesn't want 350c cores at all

Street Outlaws....couldn't tell you, can't stand to watch it

When I was researching building my TH350, I got a lot of recommendations to use the non-lockup version. It's simpler and supposedly stronger.

If you don't mind hooking up the lockup, and figuring out how it works, the TH350c is fine. BUT, there is a reason the standard Th350 is the go to muscle car transmission. There are millions of them, you can buy every single part to repair one, and they are stout even in stock form. Stock TH350s can take about 350-400hp depending on the year and application it came from. Some have more clutches/heavier duty clutches than others.

Good usable TH350 cases are getting hard to find. It has been 37 years since the last production line unit shipped.

So no one has FIRST HAND knowledge?

I know "the internet says" 350C is junk, but why?

350c are a little slower off the line due to the lock up piston inside the convertor

installing a 350c will only give you 2-3 more mpg in absolutely perfect downhill conditions on the highway.

Driving around locally will do nothing for you but make you slower off the line from a dead stop.

They use different input shafts, pumps, and valve bodies.

Thanks Turna

I already have a 350C that came out of the car (which is now running a 250C), and as I said, 350 cases that are buildable to good quality are getting tougher to find. Lots of builders will build one in a subpar case, especially these guys all over Craigslist that sell them for 350-400 dollars.

267 car, so slow off the line is pretty much standard

Well, the tough part is finding all the parts, contrary to popular belief, not ALL the parts are still available for the . And TH350C is harder to secure than TH350, alot interchanges and alot is shared with the 700R4/4L60. For bucks down, Lock-up should read UNABLE to FLUSH and the torque converter WILL require replacement.

Now, some of the 6L80 and 8L80 have such a poor converter design, they don't even use the cores.
