Th350 Lockup Whining

i have a th350 lockup trans i installed into my 85 cutlass i installed a Hughes stall as well but now its whining and will not engage in gears is it that i need the lockup torque converter?

So the new converter is a non lockup one?

Hmmm....doesn't make much sense because when commanded to lock the solenoid opens allowing pressure to lock the clutches in the converter. Do you still have the lock up plug connected at the trans? What you hear might be the solenoid opening and fluid running out of the input shaft into nothing since it doesn't have lock up. Try unplugging it and see what happens
