So this is my question I had a 700r that went bad for my 80 LeMans so I lucked up and ran across a long tail turbo 350 trans I plan on rebuilding it myself and also adding a shift kit for it what I want to know is how would that turbo 350 transmission work with the 2.41 rear end I think that's what came with my 80 Pontiac LeMans I'm not sure. But I do know the rear end is completely stock.

The 2.41 rear should work fine with the TH350. It also depends on how your car is used. Does it see mostly highway use, around town, or combination of both?
I'd say if it sees mostly highway, it will almost be like having overdrive.
Your engine and cam could also be a factor here as well. I wouldn't expect any great acceleration with those gears, though.

First make sure the T-350 has the 9" tail housing. Your car probably felt pretty weak of the line with the 2.41 rear and the first gear in the 350 will make it worse. Other than that it should be fine and with a 2.41 rear who needs overdrive.

You might be pleasantly surprised that your shortened driveshaft from the 700-R4 fits the 9" tailhousing...

The 700 R-4 would have a lower first gear compared to the TH350. On the highway with the 700 and those gears, I'm sure it would be like running at a high idle.

What would be a good stall convertor for this setup

I have a very similar setup already in my 80 malibu. TH350 with a B&M shift kit and stock rear end (probably 2.73 or lower) and a very mild cammed 350ci. She cruises at 75mph barely turning 2,000 rpms. Its a very street and highway friendly setup and you find the engine just chugging at low rpm at most city speeds. but as most people have said, the acceleration off the line is awful haha and as far as i know i have the stock converter, which has a stall of about 1,800-2,100 off the top of my head. i daily drove it like this for 5 years before i got my Goat;)
