I actually want opinions... Since I have the small 260 engine, and Im getting freshly rebuilt 350 put in. Which stage should I go with that would make the shifts feel more nice and stout?

The higher the stage, the harder the shift. But also, the harder your transmission shifts, the more strain you are putting on your u joints, drive shaft, and rear end. Just something to think about.

With the stage 1, you will have a nice hard shift from 1st to 2nd. And your 2nd to 3rd will be softer (but still much more firm than stock). Stage 2 will be harder for both shifts.

Most people like stage 1 for a daily driver, the harder shifting stage 2 can get annoying (for some people lol) if you do a lot of driving. I have had both 1 and 2, and I like stage 2 myself.

Another thing to consider is if you do any winter driving. If you do, I would stay away from the stage 2. Otherwise you'll lose traction every time the transmission shifts lol.

Yes Ima daily driver and yes I drive in the winter lol...But I think I should go with stage 2 because my engine is really not fast at all. Its a 260, im pretty sure stage 2 would make me feel like I have somewhat or if any power at all lol.

Stage 2 in the winter driving? Not good..when the trans shifts from 1-2 and 2-3 it could cause the wheels to spin. If your not in an Icy zone then go for it. But if it has a lot of miles on it, I would just leave it alone if it is working. If you know what your doing, drill out the plate, remove the accumulator spring and throw away some check balls and shim up the pump spring to raise the line pressure. use a governor from a chevy trans, to raise the shift points.. instant shift kit..

I live in Rancho Cordova, Cali.. It never gets icy here. The coldest it gets in the winter at record is 29 degrees..and we only get rain... Would that be bad with a stage 2? And the transmission is a fresh rebuild. Its actually in the process of being rebuilt right now.

No snow or ice? Then yeah, go for the stage 2.

But just remember. Let's say it's wet outside, and you are on it hard around a corner. If that thing either up-shifts or down-shifts, the rear is gonna break free. Other than that, you're gonna love it.

Probably not with the 260. I don't even know if you'll get the 1-2 chirp, maybe with stock tires.
