Two nights of updates to do tonight.

Yesterday I spent a good part of the day on the removal of the factory cluster, fabrication of the Holley digital dash mount and moving around some minor factory wiring.

Took a little while to get the dash off and the steering column out peacefully, and without damage.

I then took some heavy card stock and began trimming until I had a perfect fit for the spot that the factory cluster was in.

I then transferred to 18ga sheet.

And mocked up the digital dash in place, cobbled together some power to it and tested it. It is a darn good fit. It took several hours to get it exactly right but I'm pretty happy with the placement. The factory bezel covers about 1/4" of the top and bottom but I'll live with that until I find a spare bezel to cut up. Mine is pretty mint.

It was around this point that the girlfriend put a halt to my progress....

This morning I threw some primer and ultra flat black on the display mount. The dash was fully removed and moved out of the way to remove the last ducting and simplify some factory wiring and get the neutral safety and back up lights wired to the shifter. Made some plans for ECM and fuse/relay panel mounting. Then the Amazon order showed up.

Got a balancer puller and it was cam swap time. I've been kinda debating whether to put my big cam in, but a cam swap is minor on an LS so I decided to do it.

Took about an hour and a half.

Got the water pump tapped for the steam line return and started, finally got the software in the dash updated so it reads the ECM values properly and started on the fuse panel started

Finish up the wiring tomorrow and hopefully fire up with the new cam. 😀😀😀
 
That is a lot of cam - good thing you have an aftermarket ECU to run it. Because the low vacuum is going to make driving interesting... and would cause fits with a stock computer.

Funny thing is it's only 10 degrees more than the BTR stage 2 I had which idled really nice at 650rpm, I never took a vacuum reading but it felt good. I have a bit more static compression with the 823 heads so it might not be terrible. I can adjust the injection end angle at idle to compensate too Besides I only really need 14 in/hg.....
 
I suppose my concern lies with the BTR Stg 2 (essentially the same cam I have in my wagon, idles in the 650 to 700 rpm range) having 4* of overlap, and your GMPP cam having 21* of overlap. She's going to want some added idle speed for sure.

What do you think? Sounds about right for a hot rod.
