what's goin on guys? I've had my 84 elco for a little over a month now, so I decided to start a build thread. The skinny on the car is, I bought it from the father of a guy I went to high school with. He started with a frame off resto of an 83 SS, it was stolen, and his insurance money afforded him this car. He just got to the point to where he couldn't work on it. It's an 84 conquista, has a jasper 8.5:1 350 with 882 heads, Edelbrock performer cam, carb and intake headers and flows with 40k miles and a turbo 350 with a Saturday night special converter (somewhere around 2000 rpm stall), and a shift kit. Based on my rpm/ transmission/ tire size calculations the gears are 3.08-3.23. The best thing he did to the car was the interior. Pro car buckets, consol, aftermarket stereo, white face gauges, etc. there is a Lil but if body work to be done on the left rear, and he put hideous home improvement style cents on the front fenders to look like louvers that have to go. Nice staggered Cragar style/ torque thrust style wheels. I got the car, and about a half of shed full of new and factory pull off parts for $2500. I currently have to top end torn off the motor. Should have it back together and running in the next couple weeks. The new setup will be:

Stock bottom end, GM 441 heads with 2.02 1.60 SS valves, .015 head gaskets to get the quench down, summit billet steel timing set, summit 110 gph mechanical fuel pump, lunati voodoo dual pattern 268/276 .489/.510 lift cam, voodoo lifters, summit steel roller tip rockers, reusing the Edelbrock performer intake, 1 inch carb spacer, and a speed demon 650 with vac sec and keeping the electric choke. Stock hei for now and msd wires, reusing the headers.

heads have been milled about .030 to go along with the thin head gasket to gain some compression. should be sitting somewhere around 9.5:1. they have also been lightly ported, just an overall clean up thruout the head, some bowl work, hardened seats, guide plates, .550 lift springs etc etc you get the idea.
