Heads look clean, I'd go for a 2800ish stall if I were you. Wouldn't hurt, just help.

Thanks. I'm sure a 2800 stall wouldn't hurt, but I'm not gonna go thru the trouble of changing it just to gain a few hundred rpm. When the day comes and somethin in the motor or trans goes pop and I've gotta pull em and do a rebuild, I'll go with like a 3500 stall, but as for now I'm just trying to get as much as I can out of the car without spending unessessary money. I'd love for it to be a bbc with a powerglide and a mini tub, but I don't have that kind of money yet and my motor and trans only have 40k miles on them. Still a lot of life left so I'm gonna run what I've got till it breaks.

Are you sticking with the performer intake? I want to get rid of my 882 heads but my setup is reliable it's just a matter of getting my new 650dp to be acutely tuned. What are your plans for the car/motor?

I was gonna go to a high rise single plane, somethin like a victor jr, but the cam manufacturer says this cam likes a dual plane intake. So, since I already have the performer and the car probably needs a lil help on the low end due to the current stall speed, I just decided to reuse it. Took it to work, ran it thru solvent, parts washer and then blasted it. 882 heads aren't the best for making power, but they are a decent torquey head and with some porting and 2.02 1.60 valves they would probably surprise you. The only reason I went with the GM 441 iron heads is because we have a guy that rebuilds cylinder heads that rents our extra building at work. He had someone come in and sell him the 441s. One head had already been ported and I guess after they did that they gave up. He knew I was lookin for heads and he needed some work, so he offered to port the other to match, clean up their Port work a lil, bowl work, valve job with 2.02 1.60s stainless valves, guide plates, screw in studs, .550 lift springs etc etc for 600. I was dead set on out of the box jegs brand aluminum heads, but they were around 850 dollars. My main goal is to build this car with as lil money as possible, so the 250 dollar savings was worth it to me. As far as my plans for the car... It's a toy. It's for me and the ol lady to roll over to mid town in, hit the pump bar, hit Edna's, (I'm sure u have no idea what these bars are lol. It's just the places we like to hang out). I'll typically drive it to work on Fridays weather permitting. But the main reason I'm building it... To raise total hell. It's gonna be a stoplight car. I wanna smoke every Honda and every 5.0 mustang in Okc. It's basically gonna end up being a real low key race car. Full interior stereo etc, but I'm gonna build it to go fast.... But it will never see a track.

Here's a pic of the intake after I cleaned it up.

Looks great ! Now is the perfect time to get rid of the leaning tower of pisa you got going on with your oil pressure sensor and mount it remote on the firewall. I had one ( just like yours ) let go on the highway and boy did it make a mess !! Lucky I didn't burn the car down over a $20.00 line

Thanks for the tip. I'll def get the line. This is my first build so I just figured that was how it was suppose to be.

So basically I just pull the fitting out of the block, attach the new line into the block, run it up to the fire wall, mount the sensor pickup on the fire wall and attach the line into it?[/QUOTE]

One other thing. How does taking it off the block and putting it on the firewall reduce the risk of it leaking? It's back behind the intake, you can't even see it when the motor is back together. I'm just wondering what failed on yours to cause the leak.

I mean, it could maybe break off easily because it's so long but why buy something if it ain't broke/it seals? Be careful when installing everything obviously.
