i have a electric fan which is controlled by a relay that is switch from a thermostat sensor/ switch located on my manifold right by the thermostat housing.i was just wondering if the switch is mounted to close to the thermostat housing is it going throw off the switch from working right.my temp sensor for my gauge is located in the block.so when the temp switch reaches 185 the my fan should turn on because that is what the relay sensor/switch for the fan is.or does the fan relay sensor/switch doesn't see that temp because it's mounted next to close to the thermostat housing.

it there anyway that i can check that sensor to make sure it's hitting the right temp.

I've had two guages hooked up at the same time before. One was in the the head the other was in the intake next to the thermostat. I've seen 10-15 degrees temperature difference between the two, with the one in the intake being cooler. So if the sender for your fan kicks on at 185 and its in the intake, it's possible for your guage that's in the head to read 195-200 before your fan kicks on. Hope that helps.

i think i found the problem.every time i went to check the sensor with my light tester ( the tester that one end is grounded and the light inside the tester ).well the tested would ground the sensor and it would turn the fan on for a second or two.well come to find out i had to much tread sealer on the treads and it wasn't making a good ground.i didn't really load up on the sealer but it might of been just enough.plus the sensor was in a reducer with sealer that bolted into the manifold.
