245/45/17 ride well and fit nice. A 215/55/17 is the same height as a 245 so the sidewall is good.

I have almost the same setup, 5660 front springs, 1/2 tall lower ball joints, 4th gen camaro disks on the front.

215 is a bit narrow for a 8" wide wheel, 235 or 245 is perfect.

Plus 245 is a stock tire on GTO and mustangs so the tires are plentiful and affordable.

255/45/17 will fit up front too but its an odd size. 275/40/17 will rub (or did for me)

I believe those tires have a 10.04 in. section width. You should have about 5.5 in. from your drum mounting surface to your frame (my Regal does) With an 8 in. rim the tire is going to be 1.02 in. wider that the rim on both sides. 4.5 backspace plus 1.02 = 5.502 DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
I failed advanced math classes in school, LOL

I got my 245/45X17 mounted on my 17X8 w 4.5 BS. wheels. They seem good on the front and back. In the back I have about 1 inch of clearance from the frame. This size looks to small for the back. Will a taller tire say a 55-60 series with the same tread width 9.7-10 inch work? I’m thinking 27 or 28 inch .

Since I bought General G-MAX AS-05 245/45X17for the front I searched theyre other sizes available . Since I want a taller tire in the rear , Im going with theyre 235/55ZR17 . its section width is 9.6 height is27.2 .Tire rack rated these tires as the best all season performance radial .

Dilemma solved! After replacing my entire rear suspension, it lowered the car a bit and the 245/45X17s look good now. Any taller tire would be to close to the tailpipes. As is theres only about an inch. So now I’ll buy the same size for the front . Thanx for all of your suggestions and info, especially Pagrunts size chart, I printed that out so I could repeatedly study it.
