Tires and wheels, 1979 Buick Sport Wagon

Oh and here is my wagon on 15x8.5 rear vectors with 275/50/15 drag radials on the back. These wheels had 3.375" backspace which is a little small and they stuck out more than ideal. They cleared no problem, but stuck out too much to really tuck the wheel under the tub.

The rear wheel tubs on the wagons aren't anything special or smaller than any other G body so a 15X8 with 4" BS fits well.

Thanks! Looks you have about as much tire as possible!

Wow!! Thanks for posting the pics of your pristine Buick Sportwagon. You can absolutely eat off the underside of that car. Beautiful, rare find. 👍😎
I hope you keep it in relatively original condition.

I know it’s your car, you can do what you want but after finding the BAT thread I hope you keep it a Century and not convert front ends. I dig the drivetrain upgrade but vote keeping the look.

I'll say it again... Wow! That is super clean, and original. I'm a resto-modder, but even I would have a hard time modifying that wagon. With a car that nice, I'm certain you will perform a clean, tasteful transformation. Looking forward to seeing it. Please start a "build thread" so we can all see your progress.

Unless the pictures are lying, that looks like a hell of a deal. Would cost nearly that to body work and paint an entire car. I agree with other sentiments that it is different enough that I would have a hard time going crazy with appearance mods. Stop and go items would make it a lot more fun to drive! Would be cool to see those wheel centers, or billet copies, on bigger hoops

The way I look at it. It will never be original again. that's why I'm a proponent of keeping it original. However, I could see a drivetrain upgrade, and yet keep the exterior original in appearance. Like James, I'm a resto-mod fan. It would be nice with a GN drivetrain.

Take a look at he pictures of my 84 Monte SS in the 'for sale' section. 17 x 9 Year One reproduction Chevelle 5 spokes with 275/40/17 tires - used 1/2 spacers to reduce backspacing so they would fit, changed all wheel studs with Dorman units that were 13mm longer than stock. Stock wheel backspacing is 4 1/4". Year One wheels have 5" backspacing (designed to go on A bodys) and the 1/2 inch spacer made them work in the stock wheel wells.
