To get more instrumentation light, can I use bulb 168 instead of 194?

I pulled the instrument cluster and wow I was impressed after watching the video on GBody You Tube and after following his directions,
my fuel gauge began to work and got the other gauges to move but my oil gauge went past 60 (This is with just key on, not running)

I went through all the light bulbs and reinstalled but I noticed how dim the dash lights are. I cleaned them all.

I see bulb 194 is the typical 4 Watt 24 Lumen bulb to use to replace any.

I also see bulb 168 is 5 Watts 38 Lumen bulb. (20% more watts and 50% more Lumens)

Could I possibly use the 168 in place of the 194 and NOT have any issues?

I don't want to go LED..........I just want a brighter dash.

Would the extra wattage and Lumens cause any extra heat in the enclosed instrument panel?

How about electrical draw? Can the printed circuit handle the extra load?

It's just an idea while I have the dash apart.........and I only want to do this once in my lifetime......

Thanks,
AZ

To answer the question, yes, 168s have been used without issues in places 194s used to live. There was a time when cheap, LED lights were not available.

But I would go with LED's simply due to the fact 168s aren't normally as bright as you would like.

I must have been living in a cave.......I missed the price of LEDs coming down............

As my eyes grow older I need more light for safety reasons...mine and OTHERS TOO.;)
