i have a 383 making around 470hp to the wheels. im going to be using a th350 with a 3000 stall torque converter.. should i use a non-lockup or lockup torque converter? its gonna be a street car and will make a couple of trips to the drag strip every now and then. any advice?

You wouldn't be able to use a lock-up convertor unless it was a TH-350C model which has lock-up capability. If you plan on doing any highway travel, you might consider going with a built 200-4R or 700-R4 overdrive transmission.

What Jack said. Plus, it's only locked in high gear as it was for better mileage before overdrives became common, and it only saves about 300 rpm at highway speed. The only plus is the T-350-C can be built as bulletproof as a regular T-350, but no one would use the lockup converter for racing,it's a low stall speed unit.
