Towing Capacites (towing weight)

A very expensive process, and repeat all the process of importing a vehicle outside the European union. It is very long and without any guarantee of a conclusive result.

He told me that after 5 years it retains just a tiny trace of import, so in my case would start all over again  .
Here everything is just too complicated ... It will be easier and cheaper to buy another used car.

It only remains for me to find an American vehicle, it being on French territory, with a large towing capacity, and especially low value. I already have my idea... 8)

Admit it - you just love american cars. Clearly all you'd really have to do do instead of purchasing a 2nd american car is keep going to the DMV until a woman is working the counter who doesn't even like cars and takes the load ratings on your new american hitch @ face value. If you want a worthless american vehicle to tow I'd look at silverado's, blazers, & Roadmasters

another worthless vehicle: early Dodge Durango can tow almost 6,000 lb + has 3 rows of folding seats

Hello.

pontiacgp, this is not possible. Must imperatively amend the certificate of title, with the new weight. Only the certificate is actually valid, sticker is rather information.

Too bad for me, I consider myself fortunate to have an American car with a valid certificate (if i tows less than 300 kg  )

pencero, an Blazer, Silverado, or Suburban, are great cars but have a high value in france. One Roadmasters I love these Wagon, but almost non homologated in France.
Car less than 30 years, not officially imported by GM, so it's a reception as isolated Title in France, to try to obtain a valid certificate. (a process which costs around 5300 USD and not certain to succeed)

To buy and to register a American cars in France:
- It must have minimum 30 years (certicat title veteran car)
Or
- Import officially per mark (Gm, Ford ...) for example, it was possible buy a corvette (but not el camino) in Opel in France (GM group).
Or
- Go to a specialized Dealer for American car, but with a wallet full.
For example, What kind of vehicles for sale and what price (price in euros) :

http://www.madness-us-cars.com/ancienne ... aurees.htm
http://www.uscarskuntz.com/index.php?op ... gory&id=35
Or
- take the risk to be an import, oneself (but very very complicated to register, for a car less than 30 years)

My explanations are perhaps not very understandable, but knowing that here is very complicated.

An American car affordable for me in france, with which I can tow a trailer:
Ford Explorer (first generation or possibly second).
Chevrolet S10 Blazer.

Thank's for your messages.
Good Sunday.

I see you're a GM guy like me and didnt even consider the Durango idea. I used to hate my dad's Durango but one day I realized it really has been great to us. It's the only car we haven't had to swap an engine or transmission on. With 150k miles on it, that's something to say. We just installed an intake manifold on it, the most expensive part under the hood we have had to acquire so far: $120 (used)

I owned 2 box blazers and they are a favorite of mine too. If you can find a roadmaster instead, you can tow 7,000 which is 2,000 more than a box blazer with a 4.3! Just check the door sticker to make sure it came with the towing package, rather than buying a Roadmaster that came w/o towing package and was done aftermarket. A roadmaster w/o the factory towing package is only good for 5,000 and not 7. PS, the box blazer is fantastic but has a terrible side impact crash rating compared to a roadmaster which has a heavier door.

I read that Europe gives higher tow capacities than they do in the US. A car is good to tow anything up to it's own weight

By that logic my 95' Geo metro can tow 1300 lbs, and pigs can fly

No but he's right, as long as you don't out-weight the car you should be ok.
