Been reading the posts here and need some help. Have an 86 Cutlass with a 231. There are 16 bolts on the bottom of the transmission looks like trans # 5. There is no trans throttle cable on the side at all. Located one from Auto Zone but I doubt it's the correct one. Auto parts stores do not have the cable. Where do I locate the correct cable? I looked online but do not want to get the wrong one and deal with returns and time lag.

You dont have a trans throttle cable. what you have is a 2004R Transmission (picture id 5).
The 200-4R overdrive transmission use something called a throttle valve (TV) cable. As i look on autozone online, they dont actually have the part anymore, probably obsolete with them.

You can go to rock auto and look up 1986 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SUPREME 3.8L 231cid V6 2BBL (A) OHV : Transmission-Automatic : Detent Cable
