So i finally get my car running and on the road, and another problem comes up :blam:

While driving around with some buddies, we noticed when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd, the car wouldn't accelerate in 3rd until i let off the throttle and it would catch. So we checked the fluid, and apparently I didn't seal the pan well enough, and had lost quite a bit of fluid. (I changed the fluid and filter back when I still had the 3.8) So we topped it off and there was still no difference. It slips mostly in the transition from 2nd to 3rd, but shifts normally the majority of the time from first to second. i tried changing the vac. line from the carb to the manifold, but still no difference. Any ideas on what to do?

Also i thought it was wierd that my speedometer is off a good 15 mph, and the needle jumps around a lot.

I have a new non-cruise control speedo cable and a bottle of lucas transmission fix. hopefully that will solve my problems. Could it be the vacuum modulator?

If it were the vacuum modulator, you would likely notice it in your 1-2 shift as well. (I'm assuming TH350) On your transmission, there is a bubbled out cover, with a spring wire retainer. Behind that cover, there is a governor, I had one of these go bad on me, and it dropped my car down into first gear, and would not allow me out of it. No second, No third. I can't guarentee this is your problem, but if the car has sat for a long time, it's a possibility that it's not allowing your trans to engage 3rd. It's hard to explain how to check these if they are sticking or not, so maybe try one from another transmission if possible. Hope that makes some sense, haha.

Oh, and is your downshift cable hooked up? If so, is it adjusted properly? Again assuming th350

Forgot to add, can you manually shift the car through the gears with out it slipping?

its a th250, but basically the same thing. i understand what you are saying about the governor, I'll definitely look into that. I don't know if it slips while shifting through manually because i still have to do some clearanceing of the linkage to the header. I cant shift lower than drive  When you put your foot into it, it downshifts and doesn't slip, but it does the usual when you get to the reansition from 2nd to 3rd.

I'm gonna put the lucas in pretty quick here today. We'll see if that does the trick (fingers crossed)
