I just made it to work and the transmission started to make a grinding noise like plastics gears stripping any ideas what it could be?
It s runs fine and shifts fine it sound like the shift cable.

:?: Grinding noise when? Only in gear or all the time? Is the noise present when the car is stopped or only when it's rolling? What transmission are you talking about? What is the history of the transmission; original, rebuilt, high-miles?

If you're looking for an internet diagnosis you need way more info.

Very likely to be the torque converter coming apart. Stop driving it ASAP because if it is the converter it's likely sending aluminum trash from the stator through the transmission! My GN did the same thing about four years ago.

Get is looked at as soon as you can.

Unfortunately, if that's the problem, you're looking at a new torque converter plus a transmission overhaul.

I knew that rebuilt cz transmission I bought last year from a fellow member would come in handy, now all I need is the converter.

That's great that you're prepared with a spare bullet. Just be sure to vigorously back flush your transmission cooler or bypass it to an external cooler. Trash stuck in a cooler will make short work of a fresh transmission.

Greg, you were right on I asked one of the mechanic's at
work and he heard it right away and said your converter
is on its way out!!! I laughed and he asked what's so funny, I said a friend (Greg) just told me the same thing.
Thanks for your help. I'm going to try it myself. How do I flush the lines.
