Dropped by a Yard the other day looking for the Camino that the Garage that has my Wagon turned in for scrap. Long story but there were some parts still on the car that they neglected to remove per my instructions. Anyway, got to talking with one of the guys and he inform me that the only one they had is an '86 Model with 51,000 ORIGINAL MILES. :?: It was one of those get it outta my yard deals. They drove the thing in! Priced it to me for $80 if I pull it myself or $105 if they pull it. Wouldn't you know it but the water pump went out in the wife's Jeep Friday. Gonna cost me @$200 to fix. :blam: Can't do both and I have a feeling the trans will be gone by the time I get the money together. Any body remember which trans they came with? It's a 305/4spd overdrive but I don't remember if they came with the 200, which is what I want, or the 700. Just in case I do happen upon a spare Benjamen in the next few days.

It should have the 200-4R in it. Man, I'd score the complete El Camino. You can always flip it whole, or part it out. You can't lose either way.

Believe me, wish I could get the whole thing. May hit them up tomorrow with my "found" Benjamen. See if I can start saving for the rear-end. Gotta have that soon too.
See there Long, I can always count on you to drop some knowledge. Thanks man.

That kinda stuff always happens to me, get a screaming deal on something, then something else breaks and I NEED to fix it right away and loose out on the deal. 🙁

JD,
My opinion or advice is just that. I can't steer your decision or know what your financial situation is. On second thought, the El Camino could have a salvage title which would make it more of a parts car, or if you wanted to use it as your own personal car.
Reselling it would be the problem..
As for the 200-4R trans, that sounds like a good deal. I bought a core from a guy years ago for about $90.00.
I took it apart to find broken and missing parts. It's still apart waiting for me to find the parts and reassemble it.
When you get the trans, make sure you take the TV cable, cross member, and whatever throttle bracket and bits. The driveshaft should be the same length as yours, so you can leave that behind.

Good luck, man!

Jim,
Life can throw you curves, that's for sure. Timing is everything.

You've got that right Jack
