It sounds like you are describing stacked shifting. This is usually caused by a loose TV cable( try resetting it again just to make sure correct) or a sticking throttle valve in the trans. Either way if you are experiencing stacked shifts do not drive it too far before getting issue resolved.

Yup reset the TV cable a few times. Missing reverse anyhow. Still not sure to rebuild it or just downgrade to a non computer controlled unit. Missing Overdrive is not important. The only purpose the car serves is hell raising. So it's never going to be a turnpike cruiser.

Nope got something going on. 15 mph it goes into 3rd almost stalling out. I tap the brakes it goes into 1st soon as I let off if goes back to 3rd. I floor it and backfires like a frigging cannon taking upto a mile and slowly slips into passing mode. Check engine light is flickering never staying on. Going to pull the computer tomorrow. Clean the plugs. Did have it out before this started. Had to repair a hole in that area. Either it's fried or I didn't plug it in correctly

Or it's the converter locking. Buddy in highschool had a ancient type 10 Cavalier we had to cut the wires to the converter can't remember why.
