Transmission Time Again

I would say if it does end up being the trans for whatever reason then if you have the money I would go with the rebuilt trans since apparently you like how your truck trans was rebuilt and it sounds like your manual trans swap is a long ways from happening.
You could buy the used one and it could last a year or 91 days and at that point you will have already paid for a rebuilt trans which being a th350 it will probably last the life of the car if rebuilt right.

Very good point. The price of the rebuild is $175 more and my transmission guy is pretty damn good. The TH350 he built for my truck works flawlessly, shifts quick and firm and the time from drop off to pick up was quick. It would probably make more sense to have him rebuild it.

If the transmission is coming out, try dropping the pan & check to see if the filter dropped. Might just be a simple fix with fresh fluid & filter. I have had seen this happen over the years.

I put a new filter on sometime earlier this year but I guess it's still worth checking.

Update: I checked the modulator vacuum line, it's fine. I haven't dropped the pan yet. I needed the car moved so I can tweak the front end on my truck. I started it up and it would go into first gear and would pull the car for a minute or two, then nothing. My fiance and I tried to push it across the driveway and failed. I live on a hillside and we weren't strong enough to push the car up the incline. I let the car sit for a few minutes and tried it again. It went into first and pulled itself back in front of the garage. I immediately put it in reverse and it backed all the way across the driveway where I wanted it. So it seems like it quits pulling a couple minutes after you start it.
